High School Field Hockey: Gloucester Back in Group 1 Finals Monday, November 8, 2004 By Susan Hall SJSports Special Correspondent It's something that the Gloucester field hockey team has gotten use to, which is making it to the South Jersey Group 1 finals. For the past five years, the Lady Lions have been making it a habit showing up in four out of the past five years battling for the title. Gloucester will meet a familiar opponent in the finals all due to the 2-1 win over Salem in the semifinals. The Lions will be taking on St. Joseph for the third year in a row. The Wildcats from St. Joseph upended Gloucester last year in the finals by one goal. The Lions would get a chance to redeem themselves with a chance of capturing their second title in three years. They jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Janine Hoover’s shot made it inside the cage. Gloucester would add their second goal still in the first half on Amanda Greene’s goal resulted from a penalty stroke.
