The Tri-County Classic Division has always been a good place for competitive basketball, and was made even more interesting this year with the addition of Wildwood. The Warriors travelled to Gloucester City on Tuesday night sitting on top of the division with a half game lead over Salem after losing a tough game to the Rams last Friday. Gloucester City likewise was a half game back and looking to move up to the top after a disappointing loss to Schalick on Friday.
The Lions set the tempo, maintaining their lead through three quarters. Entering the fourth quarter down 46-38, the Warriors turned on the heat. But outscoring the Lions 13-6 in the final quarter wasn't enough. It was Rob Pease who sealed it for Gloucester City when he hit a short jumper to break the tie with just 4 seconds left to win the game and cap off his game high 16 points.
This result keeps the race in the Tri-County Classic Division close, with Salem (7-2, 8-2), Gloucester City (5-2, 8-2), Schalick (6-1, 8-3), and Wildwood (6-2, 8-3) all with a half game of each other. The next game between any of these teams is when Schalick travels to Wildwood on Friday, Jan. 24.
