The Edgewood Ladies Tennis team is looking forward to an exciting season. The starting line-up has been gaining experience and picking up wins for four years now (with the exception of an outstanding junior player, Alexis Switenko). The ladies are trying to make this, the last year of Edgewood tennis most memorable. The team started out the season with a difficult match against Shawnee but hopes to rebound with a week full of play ahead. On Tuesday the ladies face Absagami at home. The match should be interesting and the Eagles hope to come out on top with a "W".
The outlook for the season is bright. This year the squad will be facing tougher opponents, but that does not seem to bother the players. The singles players, Alexis Switenko, Kristin Wolf, and Erin Riley, have been successful in the past, and are expected to come out with a handful of wins this week and many more throughout the season. The doubles teams are also ready for the challenges that lay ahead. With many great players in the mix, the doubles action is sure to be interesting to watch.
Because the courts at the senior high school have been torn down due to Winslow's construction, the ladies must either play their "home" matches on four courts at the Junior high school or at Overbrook senior. Even with all of the change taking place at the school, the team looks forward to one constant....winning. So come out and show your support for the Edgewood ladies' Tennis team 2000!
