The week started out well on Tuesday with a 5-0 win against Palmyra. Highlights of the match include wins by Alexis Switenko, Kristin Wolf, and Cassandra Young who stepped up to fill the third singles position. This win wasn't like any other because it came with bragging rights. You see, Palmyra's coach just happens to be the Edgewood Ladies own coach's brother. The rivalry between the two coaching brothers has been going on for years, and this might have been the final time to settle the score. With Mr. Mack (Edgewood's coach) going to a new school after dissolution, the future of the rivalry is not certain at this point.
The ladies face Williamstown on Thursday at Overbrook. This will be the ladies first state match. The team has been practicing with the match in mind and is ready to put their skills to the test. Thursday's match however, is not quite the end of the weeks work. On Friday, the ladies will head over to Eastern in order to play the team in a non conference match. But wait, that is still not the end of the tennis week. On Saturday afternoon, (after many of the players take their SAT) the ladies will go to Vineland to represent Edgewood in the South Jersey Interscholastic Tournament. In conclusion, the week will prove to be a challenge, but nothing that the ladies cannot handle. Thursday's match is key and the ladies are well aware that a win will keep them alive in the all important State Tournament. Come out and support the Edgewood Ladies Tennis team as soon as possible, the season is not over yet with many important matches still to be played.
