High School Baseball: Wednesday, March 24, 1999
By Boog Williams & Allen Stowell The Williamstown Braves baseball team visited the Edgewood Eagle's nest on Wednesday March 24 for a preseason game. This game also had two Edgewood Alumni, Allen and Bruce Stowell (Williamstown), who came back to coach against their former high school coach, Mr. Bob Lee (Edgewood). In the top of the first inning, Williamstown's Vic Crenshaw led off with a walk and got to second on a ball hit into the infield. The third batter, Walt Bates, hit a two run homerun to left center field. This gave the Braves a 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the 4th, the Eagle's Rocco Rosetti came up to bat with runners on first (Steve Kennard) and second (Nick Rosetti). He delivered a double to knock in 2 to tie the game. The pitching staff for the Braves was Steven Narleki and Jim Slade. For the Eagles, it was Eric Heritage and Charles Peiffer, who each pitched 3 innings. Williamstown improved their preseason record to 3-0-1. The Braves open the regular season April 3rd in the Haddon Heights tournament. Edgewood's preseason record is 2-2-1. The Eagles open their regular season April 1st at home against Bishop Eustace. Photos by Boog Williams
