Shawnee Wins Edgewood Holiday Tournament

The Edgewood Holiday Wrestling Tournament was made up of six teams from the South Jersey area: Cherry Hill West, Edgewood, Hammonton, Millville, Shawnee and St. Joseph's Prep. The Tournament was won for the second year in a row by Shawnee High School (216 pts.) followed by Cherry Hill West (164), Millville (157), Edgewood (150), St. Joseph's Prep (145), and Hammonton (72). The Outstanding Wrestler Award was given to Edgewood's Chris Catania. Some repeat winners from last year were Cherry Hill West's Dan DiGirdano, Edgewood's Chris Catania, Millville's John Pelechaty, and Shawnee's Dave Webb.

Each weight class had its own winner and the overall team winner was based on the following rules:

Team Point System:
(each weight class)
1st Place - 16 pts.
2nd Place - 12 pts.
3rd Place - 9 pts.
4th Place - 7 pts.
5th Place - 5 pts.
6th Place - 3 pts.

2 points were awarded towards team scoring for each fall, forfeit, default, disqualification and bye.
1 1/2 points were awarded for a technical fall (by 15 points or more).
1 point was awarded for a major decision (by 8 to 15 points).
