High School Girls Soccer: Saturday, September 19, 1998
By Boog Williams The Edgewood Girls' Varsity soccer team is in the process of rebuilding. There are four freshmen in the starting lineup and four sophomores. Seniors Kate Taylor, Kerri Buchanan, and underclassmen Alison Leach and Keeper Denise Prosser lead the team. Although the ladies are 0 and 5, there has been visible improvement in every game. As the team is developing, the Eagles will surely become a force to reckon with this year and in years to come. On Friday, the Edgewood Girls Varsity played against the Paul VI Eagles. The game was a very close scoring game. Paul VI defeated Edgewood 2-1. Edgewood's keeper Denise Prosser kept the game close with some great saves. The Edgewood Girls' Junior Varsity soccer team is also in the process of rebuilding. Coach Jim Vacca says, "For many girls on the team, this is their first time playing soccer. They are enjoying the learning experience and most will develop into future Varsity players." Photos by Boog Williams
