High School Boys Soccer: Friday, October 16, 1998
By Boog Williams On October 15, the Edgewood boy's soccer team lost at Triton 3-1. The Edgewood Eagles dominated the first half, but the score at the end of the half was 1-1. Scott Hart scored the Triton goal with an assist to TJ Durham. Brandon Cohen scored Edgewood's goal with an assist to Chris Blackmore. Some of the fans (fans will be fans) said that the second goal for Triton was questionable. Nick Satieti, with a volley, scored the goal, assisted by Mario Sergi. After that goal, Edgewood's coach Ron Wence said that the team could not regroup and had trouble defending without Mike Muckley (sitting out for a red card against Highland). Triton's Nick Satieti scored his second with an assist by Brad Wallace. The Keepers came up with some saves, Edgewood's Keith Swingle 12 and Triton's Evan Mullin 7. The next day, Edgewood traveled to Shawnee and lost again by the score of 3-1. This was the first back-to-back losing streak for the Eagles this season. Shawnee attacked most of the first half and scored two goals. The first was by Jeff Nicols and the second by Brian King. In the second half, Edgewood was having the better of the play. Edgewood's Jason Kaviani volleyed home a goal from 18 yards out to make the score 2-1. Shawnee's Glenn Gardner scored with an assist by Mark Dodson. The Shawnee Keeper, Ryan Grzeszcrak, made 12 saves while Edgewood's Keith Swingle had 17.
