South Jersey Volleyball: Friday, March 19, 1999
By Boog Williams What do you get when you mix the National Honor Society and the Faculty/Administration of a high school together? No, not a Knowledge Bowl Game. You get a fundraising volleyball game that is fun for the entire school. The Edgewood National Honor Society (NHS) held its annual volleyball game against the Faculty/Administration on Friday, March 19. The game raises money that goes towards scholarships and events in which the NHS participates in the community. There were three games played. The first had the girls of the NHS vs. Team One of the women's faculty. The women built up a big lead, but lost in the end by one point, 13-12. The next game had the NHS boys vs. the Men's faculty. As in the first game, the male faculty jumped out with a big lead. Mr. Bates taunted his opponents by pointing to the scoreboard, asking "What's the score?" This fired up the students and they stormed back to take the lead. The taunting reversed, with the students now pointing to the scoreboard, asking Mr. Bates what the score was. This motivated the Faculty. The faculty scored the next four points to win the game by two points. The last game had the NHS girls against Team Two of the women's faculty. The students defeated this second faculty team by a landslide. This is a fun annual event for all that play and for those students watching. Some of the students get to see their teachers in a much different role. Always, everybody gets to laugh and have fun. Photos by Boog Williams
