Sean Sullivan netted six goals to lead the Eastern Vikings to an 8-0 rout of the Cinnaminson Pirates on Monday night at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Anthony Orner assisted on all six and fellow line mate Brandon Tunstall added a goal and three assists. Despite missing most of their second line, Eastern double shifted their first line in the first period as the Vikings jumped out to a 5-0 lead. After Sullivan scored his first goal converting a 2-on-1 break with Orner five minutes into the game, they struck again at the nine-minute mark. As Orner stood along the left boards, he threaded a pass through the defense and right onto Sullivan’s stick along side and he just re-directed the puck into the net for a 2-0 lead.
Watching these two plays, Orner and Sullivan knew each other’s moves and spots to where they like the puck was amazing and add Tunstall’s quickness is a huge plus. Sullivan’s third goal was sheer hustle. Orner threw a lead pass into the offensive zone and with the puck just out of his reach, Sullivan dove to the ice and directed the puck into the net for a 3-0 lead. Goals by Tunstal and Rob Nevitt twenty seconds apart in the period’s final minute had Cinnaminson on their heels at 5-0.
Cinnaminson only had one shot on goal in the first period and really only tested Dan Meyers twice, both in close and he was able to make the save. Sullivan added two more goals in a span of thirty seconds early in the period and the Vikings were in control at 7-0. His sixth goal was a nice give and go with Tustall from behind the net early in the third period and with that goal he is now tied with Jim Sprinkle for the scoring leadership in the league. Eastern is now off until January 5th when they will face Cherry Hill East.
