Balanced scoring is a luxury most coaches will tell you is key for a successful hockey team. That's just what Eastern got on Monday night as five different players scored to lead the Vikings past Cherry Hill East 5-2 in action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. John Piermatti opened the scoring for Eastern as he re-directed a point shot by Richard DeMonte and the period ended with Eastern up 1-0. It could have been a lot worse as the Vikings had a five-minute power play but failed to connect.

Mike Purwin made it 2-0 as he intercepted a clearing pass and his slap shot went through the five hole. Ten seconds later Adam Roy made it 3-0, depositing a rebound of a Tom Fadako shot. With less than three minutes left in the second period, Rory Levinson, scoring his first varsity goal picked up a loose puck from behind the net and slid a backhander along the ice into the long side. After two periods it was 4-0. Michael Zussman and Mike Danyo scored for Cherry Hill East in the third period to make it close at 4-2. But Anthony Orner sealed it for the Vikings scoring with five minutes left to close out the 5-2 victory.
