Tom Fadako broke a 2-2 tie midway through the third period and Eastern hung on for a 3-2 victory over Cherry Hill East in a game played at the Skate Zone on Monday night. In a game dominated by the play of both goaltenders, Kyle Bradshaw for Eastern and Brendan Ramsay for Cherry Hill, both took turns controlling the play. Eastern had nine of the first ten shots on goal and led 2-0 seven minutes into the game. First, Mike Becker broke in and beat Ramsay along the ice just over a minute into the game. Mike Purwin made it 2-0 as he broke in all alone and his back hander beat Ramsay on the short side.
Just over a minute later Nick Giambanis stole the puck and he beat Bradshaw short side to cut the lead to 2-1 and despite dominating in shots Eastern found itself in a battle heading into the second period. Eastern had a chance to regain its two goal lead as they had a two-man advantage for just under a Minute. But Ramsay made three strong saves, including robbing Fadako from in close. Feeding off of Ramsay's play Cherry Hill finally tied the game on the power play with just over four minutes left in the second. After Giambanis put the puck on net, Kevin Desrochers jumped on the rebound and his goal tied the score at 2-2 heading into the third period.
Eastern controlled much of the play and outshot Cherry Hill 13-4 in the third period and took the lead at the eight-minute mark as Fadako sped in and beat Ramsay right through the five hole for the eventual game winner. And despite only facing four shots in the period, two of them were breakaways and Bradshaw stopped both to preserve the win.
