It's that time of the year when the last days of warm weather are upon us and you can find most outside enjoying it. Also taking advantage of their opportunities were the Lady Spartans from Deptford girls’ soccer team. The Spartans were hosting a young Overbrook team with a lot of determination and speed. Deptford would start out this game controlling the play and take a two goal lead at the break. During the second half of this Tri-County Conference Royal Division game, it was all Deptford and they would post a 7-1 victory for their third win of this young season. Kim Barger scored three goals for the Lady Spartans.
Right at the beginning of this game, you could find the Spartans controlling the ball and well within striking distance of the Rams’ net. Barger got the game’s first goal when she got just enough force on her shot with the defender right on her shoulder. Deptford would expand on their lead to 3-0 midway through the half. Overbrook would get their first scoring chance late in the half when Michelle Foster’s shot made it into the bottom right hand corner of the net to bring their margin of deficit to 3-1. But Deptford would reel off four goals during the second half to completely dominate this game. Nicole McLaughlin scored twice and Samantha Morris and Bridget Connelly each scored a goal for Deptford. Tanya Fenton picked up the win in goal for the Lady Spartans.
