Matt Buonadonna scored four goals and Matt Owens and Joe Sauer added two goals each as Black Horse defeated Delran 10-7 in Tier 2 action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. The first period was all offense and not much defense as the teams combined to score 9 goals. Buonadonna and Sauer both score just over two minutes into the game, and they were looking for more as they went on the power play, but a breakaway goal by Tyler Leary cut the lead to 2-1. Buonadonna got that goal back as he out-hustled the Delran defense to a loose puck and his quick wrist shot made it 3-1.
Delran rallied however and scored two goals in a span of two minutes, first Kyle Darcy scored to cut the lead to 3-2 then Leary made a good play to keep the puck in at the point and his blast from the circle tied the game at 3-3. It took Black Horse all of ten seconds to re-take the lead as Buonadonna connected and then Buonadonna scored short-handed late in the period. Still on the power play Delran got that one back as Sean Sowney tallied with eighteen seconds left in the period. Both teams settled down defensively in the second period and Sauer scored the only goal of the period for a 6-4 lead. The third period was a mirror image of the first not much defense and 7 goals. Zack Adams scored early for Delran to make it 6-5, but goals by Glen Reese and Buonadonna’s fourth saw the lead grow to 8-5. Delran got two goals from Mark McHugh, but Alex Peidl and Owens closed out the scoring in a wild 10-7 game.
