High School Lacrosse: Wednesday, May 6, 1998
By Gary Steiner The Moorestown Lady Quakers visited the Delran Lady Bears to play a game under the lights. This was Moorestown's only night game of the season, so it would be interesting to see if Delran could take advantage of the experience. Both teams were looking to improve their playoff seeding with a win, as pairings would be based on all games played as of May 6th. Dusk had not quite fallen, so the effect of the lights would not be felt right away. The game started out slow, with each team turning the ball over several times. Moorestown opened the scoring with a goal by Colleen Connors, quickly followed with a score by Kate Slotman. Delran's lead scorer Lauren Simone finally scored for Delran about midway through the first half. Moorestown's Andrea Collesidis followed a minute later with her first goal. Michi Matter pulled Delran back to within one when she scored from a free position. Moorestown responded with two goals, first by Andrea Collesidis and then by Summer Springstead. Things then slowed down a little, until four minutes later when Lauren Simone scored her second goal, this time from a free position. Andrea Collesidis ended the half's scoring with a goal from a free position with 1:15 left to make it 6-3. To start the second half, Delran's Michi Matter scored her second goal. Then Moorestown took over and essentially controlled the ball for the rest of the half. Kate Slotman would score four goals for the Lady Quakers in the second half, for a game high of five. Lauren Simone would score her third goal of the game with 26 seconds left, but it was Moorestown who would take home a 10-5 win.
