West Deptford’s quest for the title just got one step closer when they traveled to Collingswood to take on the number one seeded Lady Panthers. These two teams met twice during the regular season with Collingswood having the slight edge. As they say, the post season is a brand new season and a chance to re-write the past. The fifth seeded Eagles scored three first half goals, two by Tiffany Hunter, and kept Collingswood scoreless for the entire game.
Collingswood had the advantage early during the first minutes of this South Jersey Group II semi-finals match. Each challenge put in front of keeper Meghan Rieger was turned away. West Deptford would get that all-important and momentum builder first goal at the 18 minute mark when Kate Cipriani’s goal gave them a 1-0 lead. That’s when Hunter took over scoring the next two goals before halftime. That’s all of the goals that West Deptford needed to advance to the finals.
