Deptford Takes Advantage of Clearview

With the month of January coming to an end, it serves as a constant reminder that the February cutoff date for teams to have a five hundred record or better in near to qualify for the upcoming state tournament. Two teams from two different groups but having similar goals competed in a Tri-County Conference Royal Division game. The Spartans from Deptford traveled to Clearview in search of picking up a division win, but more importantly stay or move closer to the requirement to qualify for the tournament. Deptford would start with game with a lead and maintain it through four quarters. The Spartans' 73-56 victory would move them one step closer to extending their season into the playoffs.
Deptford would play this game shorthanded as two players sat out this game for violating team rules. On the opposing bench, Pat Dolan was sideline with a sprained ankle. Nevertheless, the two teams went to work on the court. Deptford's 20-7 first quarter set the momentum for the rest of the game. Lance Moore had plenty success hitting his shots as his 22 point performance proved it. The Spartans led 50-36 heading into the final quarter and was able to maintain their lead despite the Pioneers valiant efforts. Aigner Green would finish the game with 17 points for Deptford. Steve Secula led Clearview in scoring with 13 points and Carmen Trifiletti added 10 points.
