Mike Sullivan scored four goals and Bobby Kovarovic stopped twenty-five shots as Clearview defeated Williamstown 5-2 in Tier 1 action. Clearview was missing three starters, two from their top line, Wyatt Fox and Bill Dunbar who were suspended for fighting in the Township game played on Friday night. After a scoreless first period, Clearview scored three goals in the first five minutes of the period. After Sullivan scored from a scramble in front of the net, Jim Sprinkle made it 2-0 with a quick shot from the slot. With Williamstown caught on a line change, Sullivan had a breakaway and lifted a shot just under the cross bar and all of a sudden it was 3-0. Midway through the period Williamstown had its best opportunity has Jack McDonough had a breakaway, but Kovarovic turned his shot away.
It always seems that after a goalie makes a great play, his team comes right down and scores. Well Sullivan made it 4-0 as he jumped on a loose puck at center ice and after drawing the goalie out, slid the puck along the ice and into the net. Jonathan Anderson finally got Williamstown on the board right after the center ice face-off as he broke in with Tommy Ruiz and beat Kovarovic. Williamstown got another one back on the power play as Randy Akin put home a rebound to make it 4-2. Steven Short sent Sullivan down the left side just over two minutes later and his shot found the short side and Clearview led 5-2 heading into the third period. Williamstown carried much of the play as they out shot Clearview in the period 12-9, but Kovarovic kept them off the board.
