Clearview had four power play goals and their top line of Jim Sprinkle, Wyatt Fox and Bill Dunbar combined for 10 goals as they defeated Paul VI 10-5 on Friday night. Fox and Dunbar, suspended since the Township game on December 19th, still had the same chemistry with Sprinkle before their suspensions. Clearview broke out on top early, with Paul VI on the power play, Sprinkle fed Fox in the slot and he ripped a shot past Eric Lake for a 1-0 lead just two minutes into the game. Dunbar made it 2-0 as he deposited a rebound of a Mike Sullivan shot into an empty net and Clearview led 2-0.
Sprinkle made it 3-0 as he broke in 2-on-1, and with Lake playing the pass, Sprinkle instead took the shot short-side and beat Lake for a 3-0 lead. With Clearview on the power play and Paul VI caught in a line change, Dunbar broke in with Sprinkle, a dangerous combination and Sprinkle scored to make it 4-0. Paul VI could not generate much offense and that was how the first period ended.
Dunbar scored a goal in the first minute of the second period to make it 5-0. However, Dustin Isbert got that one back, thanks to some hard work along the boards by Rich Ferrro and Peter Antinore. After Tom Fritz threaded a pass to Dunbar to put Clearview up 6-1, Fox scored another power play goal, again from the slot and it was 7-1. Isbert scored his second goal of the game right before the horn sounded as he lifted home a rebound of a shot by Ferro. Mike DiGennaro scored for Paul VI early in the third period to give their fans some hope but goals by Fox and another power play goal by Sprinkle put Clearview ahead at 9-3. Zachary Booth and Ferro scored late goals for Paul VI to bring them within 9-5, but Clearview ended the game with a power play goal by Fox.
