Clearview Too Much For Under-Manned Holy Cross

Skating with only nine players Holy Cross was able to hang around for two periods, but eventually wore down in the third period and Clearview won going away 11-4. Mike Sullivan led the attack scoring four goals while Bill Dunbar added two goals and two assists. Chris Countryman led Holy Cross with two goals. Clearview took control early scoring five goals in the first period, twice scoring goals less than a minute apart. After Dunbar put Clearview up 1-0, Countryman responded three minutes later tying the game at 1-1. Nick Vaccarino gave Clearview the lead for good as Nick Vaccarino went end-to-end showcasing his speed and puck carrying ability to score a breakaway goal. Jim Sprinkle, Mike Wolk and Dunbar on the power play put Clearview up 5-1. Neal Krause scored late on the power play to make it 5-2. Steve Short and Sullivan with two were the only goals scored in the second period as Clearview led 8-2.
Goals by Danny Pratta and two by Sullivan finished off the scoring for Clearview in the third period. Countryman and Tom Kolzub added the Holy Cross goals. Notes: Team manager Larry Meenan announced that this year’s Clearview alumni game would be played on December 23rd at 9:15 at Hollydell, admission is free. Come and watch former players Pat Sullivan, John Meenan and Mike and Dave Gooch battle this year’s team.
