High School Ice Hockey: Riggs and Gooch Lead Clearview Thru the Lake Monday, March 3, 2003 By Mike Costantino Chris Riggs and Dave Gooch each scored twice as Clearview defeated Paul VI 6-1 at Voorhees on Monday night. The Eagles played without leading scorer Brett Balco who was sidelined with an injury and really missed his leadership. Freshman goalie Eric Lake was spectacular in goal again for Paul VI as he faced fifty-four shots, many form close in and kept his team in the game. After Gooch scored in the games first minute, as he was left alone in the slot. Eli Facchinei tied the score at 1-1 by utilizing his speed and was sent in by Mike DiGennaro whose quick shot found the net. With Lake playing solid, the Eagles went on the power play at around the six-minute mark with a chance to take the lead. But Nick Vaccarino kept the puck in for Clearview and Wyatt Fox fed Riggs down low and he redirected the puck into the short side and Clearview led 2-1. |
