Clearview had four different players score led by David Gooch who had a goal and two assists as Clearview defeated Eastern 4-3 in SJHSIHL action at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Monday night. With only nine healthy bodies available for Eastern, they received a strong performance in goal from Dan Meyers and goals from John Piermetti, Anthony Grey and Brandon Tunstall. After Gray scored early in the first period to give Eastern a 1-0 lead, Gooch broke in with Mike Sullivan. With no defenseman back, Gooch had enough time to draw Meyers over and made him commit, Gooch slid the puck to Sullivan for a tap-in and a 1-1 game.
Just over a minute later, Gooch let one fly from the top of the left circle beating Meyers under the crossbar and Clearview led 2-1. With the teams skating four aside, Piermetti fed Tunstall in the slot to tie the score at 2-2 midway through the period. The rest of the period belonged to Meyers as he faced 18 shots but allowed just the two goals.
Eastern took the lead in the second period as Mike Frohberg threaded a pass to Piermetti who scored short-handed and the under-manned Vikings led 3-2. Moments later Bill Dunbar tied the game at 3-3 scoring a power play goal on a feed from Chris Riggs. Nineteen seconds later, Riggs converted a Dunbar pass as he skated around the net and his quick shot beat Meyers. Neither team would score in the third period and Clearview escaped with a 4-3 win.
