High School Ice Hockey: Smith Nets Seven as Clearview Romps in JVA Playoff Sunday, February 17, 2002 By Mike Costantino SJSports Staff Writer Joe Smith scored seven goals and Wyatt Fox added three as Clearview crushed Lenape 13-1 in JVA playoff action at Hollydell on Sunday. The score was only 2-0 after the first period on two of Smith's goals. Actually, Lenape's goalie Ray York kept his team close as most of the period was spent in the Lenape end. York faced fifteen shots while his team could only muster one shot on goal. Clearview broke open this game in the second period scoring seven goals with Fox and Smith each scoring twice and Brian Smith also scoring. The lone Lenape goal came off the stick of Tom Saltmer. Barring an upset, Clearview and Eastern should meet in the next round and it will be interesting to see how much success Clearview has against Eastern net-minder Brian Williams.
