Ryan Arnold had a natural hat trick and Mike Gooch added two goals and an assist as Clearview moved into a tie for second place with its 5-4 victory over Eastern. Mike Purwin paced the Vikings attack with two goals. Gooch scored the only goal of the first period as he went top shelf to beat Eastern goalie Dan Meyers. Early in the second period Purwin went end-to-end and tied the game at 1-1, with Mike Becker missing from the lineup, Purwin was Eastern's best player.
With Eastern on the power play, Dave Gooch sped into the zone and fed his brother Mike who slid the puck into the empty net, and with the shorthanded goal Clearview led 2-1.
Fifteen seconds later, still on the same power play Eastern tied the score at 2-2 as Dave Warrington scored the power play goal. Midway through the second period was when Arnold seemed to take over. After he broke in with Mike Gooch on a 2-on-1, Gooch fired the puck in front and Arnold one-timed a deflection to give Clearview the lead for good at 3-2. Then with Clearview on the power play, he stole the puck and beat Meyers on the short side and the lead was 4-2.
Arnold completed his hat trick late in the period, again on the power play, and Clearview led 5-2 heading into the third period. Eastern scored two goals in the period, but could not score the equalizer and ended losing 5-4.
