High School Ice Hockey: Friday, October 22, 1999
By Mike Costantino Gunnar Fox scored with fifty seconds left in the game as Clearview rallied from a three-goal deficit and defeated Lenape 4-3 in a SJHSIHL game played at Hollydell on Friday evening. Both teams were missing key players, but Lenape was starting their JV goalie Malloy, who played strong defensively and helped his team to a 1-0 lead when Jon Bianco scored with Dan Whitlock assisting. Mike Neary, who scored twice, made it 2-0 when he scored an unassisted goal near the end of the first period. Neary scored on the power play early in the second with Chris Sullivan and Al Kirk assisting and a 3-0 lead. With just over seven minutes left in the period, Joe Hiddemen scored for Clearview and it was 3-1 as the game headed into the third period. Malloy continued to play strong as he stoned Dave Gooch in the first three minutes. But with just under ten minutes to go, Rob Coble scored for Clearview to make it 3-2. Pat Sullivan and Mike Cargill both got the assist. Sullivan would tie the game at 3-3 on the power play with four minutes left on a feed from Ryan Arnold. Clearview kept the heat on and Fox rammed in the game winner. Lenape pulled the goalie and Bianco had a chance to tie, but was stoned by Weisenbach. Photos by Art Redd
