Talking about know your opponent, the two Cherry Hill high school girl’s lacrosse team took the field in a very competitive Olympic Conference matchup. Cherry Hill East was representing the American Division well by holding down the top position while Cherry Hill West was right in the middle of the pack of the Patriot Division. Even though these cross city rivals represent two different divisions, there were very familiar and formable opponents. The two teams were tied at halftime and this game would be decided during the second half when the Lions took their first lead of the game. East would stay close, but West would prevail by a 9-6 score.
The Lady Cougars from Cherry Hill East started out their season winning their first four game of the season. After losing their first divisional game to Eastern, the Cougars were looking to bounce back after that dominating performance by Eastern. Cherry Hill West would find themselves trailing early, but stayed close enough to tie this game at three apiece to end the first half.
Angela Wilmer and Amy Zeitz each scored the first two goals of the second for the Lions. With that two point advantage, East would respond with a goal from Katie Hammond. But with each goal scored by East, the Lions would get two back. Rachel Gordon and Zeitz each found the back of the net to expand their lead to 7-4. Again Brittany Hoffman for East kept this game competitive by scoring for East only to see West repeat their pattern of scoring twice after a East score. Angela Wilmer and Linnea Fargo each scored for West to expand their lead to 9-5. The last goal of the game was scored by Katie Koper for the Lady Cougars.
