High School Ice Hockey: Folkman paces East to First Victory Monday, December 11, 2006 By Mike Costantino SJSports Staff Writer Dan Folkman scored three goals and assisted on two others to lead Cherry Hill East to a 6-3 win over Eastern. The victory was the first of the season for East after eleven straight losses. With a roster full of underclassmen the team should only get better. Folkman got the offense going as he scored less than a minute into the game. Torin Lawson responded about ninety seconds later scoring on a breakaway. Dan Drazen gave Eastern a 2-1 lead scoring a short-handed goal late in the period, but Folkman responded with a power play goal to tie the score at 2-2 after one period. After Folkman set-up the go ahead goal in the first five minutes of the second period, Eastern could not generate much offense and the period ended at 3-2. Dave Badecki scored in the opening seconds of the third period, again set-up by Folkman, but Drazen responded for the Vikings just over a minute later to cut the lead to 4-3. Folkman completed his hat trick with an assist going to Louis Kramer and the lead was back to two at 5-3. Matt Bushman added an empty net goal to close out the scoring. Photos by Art Redd
