Eastern knew from the start of this game that they had to find an answer against a tough Cherry Hill East girl's soccer team. The Lady Vikings were able to get that key goal past the strong goaltending of Cherry Hill East's Emily Brenner. In the second overtime, Aleka Yrantsos scored the winning goal to give the tenth seeded Vikings a second round Group 4 victory over the second seeded Lady Cougars.
This see-saw scoring game started with Eastern gaining their confidence with the first goal of the game. Torre Niernam assisted in Carly Ober's goal to give them the confidence that they could beat Brenner past the pipes. But the Lady Cougars came right back to tie the game at one. Christine Mullin put the ball in the net at the 13:05 mark. Mullin's goal was assisted by Perri Brenner. Mullin continued to contribute as on their next goal, her pass to Amanda Kravitz gave Cherry Hill East a 2-1 lead.
Coach Phil Petru watched his team even the score again at two a piece when Yrantsos assisted on Amanda Smith goal to send this game into overtime. It was Yrantsos' header in the second overtime to push the Lady Vikings past a stunned Cherry Hill East team. Eastern now travels to Brick Memorial in their next round of the girl's South Jersey Group 4 tournament.
