By Forrest Robleto The Bishop Eustace girls came into today's match up with 7 wins 3 losses and 2 ties. The Cougars had only one loss and one tie in their first ten games and thus were considered the favorites. But Cherry Hill's defense cracked just a little and the Crusaders' defense never did. Elissa Harrison, Eustace's keeper, looked very strong the entire game despite being tested several times by the Cougars' offense. And Carolyn Snyder was beaten only once by a direct kick for the only score of the game. On a direct kick, Andrea Barberio of Eustace got off a near perfect shot that cleared the wall of defenders and bounced in front of Caroyln Snyder who tried to catch it on the bounce. The ball slipped from between her fingers and dropped to her left where Patti Lynch made no mistake in tapping it home at the 25:20 minute mark. Cherry Hill came back almost immediately with a beautiful pass from Amanda Kravitz to Marrissa Kravitz who took it in close. Amanda centered the ball to Nicole Thurston who headed the ball toward the top of the net. Elissa Harrison managed to get her fingertips on the ball to tip it high. Frank Torcasio, the Eustace coach, and Viktor Dombrovsky both kept their teams in the game even through the last second of the game as the defenses struggled to keep the good shots to a minimum. Shots in the game were fairly even at 12-10 Eustace. Bishop Eustace moves to 8-3-2 and the Cougars are now 8-1-2. Cherry Hill faces Eastern at Eastern on Monday and Lenape at Lenape on Wednesday. They complete the regular season at home on Saturday with Delsea. Photos by Forrest Robleto
