Four Goal Third Period Is Downfall For Township

Cherokee scored four goals in the third period and defeated Washington Township 6-4 in Tier 1 action played in Voorhees. After a scoreless first period, Township scored three goals in a seven- minute span, two by Billy Choy and one by Jason Pelle to lead 3-0. But Cherokee scored two goals thirty seconds apart in the final three minutes of the period to cut the lead to 3-2 and carry the momentum heading into the third period. Louis Sarcone and Patrick McMahon scored goals ninety-seconds apart in the first five minutes to put Cherokee up 4-3.
Robert Hniedziejko tied the score at 4-4 for Township, but goals by Sarcone and an empty netter by McMahon gave Cherokee the 6-4 win. With the victory, Cherokee is now in a three-way tie with Township and Clearview with twelve points, one point behind Rancocas and four points behind Eastern.
