With the official pairings for the upcoming postseason playoffs being released on Monday, two teams would get a chance to use today's game as a tune up to the beginning of the NJSIAA field hockey tournament. The Lady Lions from Cherry Hill West and the Lady Irish from Camden Catholic both have clinched a position for the post season and had the opportunity to compete in a regular season game. The defense for Camden Catholic was able to keep the Lions off the scoreboard allowing the offense to put the only points on the scoreboard. Michelle Vittese scored two goals for the Irish helping the team to post the 4-0 win. Jess Pandola earned the shutout in goal for Camden Catholic.
These two Olympic Conference teams had accomplished one of their goals for the regular season and that was to qualify for the postseason before the cutoff date. Year after year, players can remember that last game of the season wondering if things were different. But Camden Catholic and Cherry Hill West had the chance to extend their season by participating in this year’s playoff prolonging their season. In this game, the Lady Irish took control of this game from beginning to end and pick up the victory. To go along with Vittese’s two goal performance, Katie Scanlon and Marissa Dombrowski also scored for Camden Catholic.
