Things have gotten very interesting in the South Group 2 bracket for this year's field hockey playoffs. Camden Catholic had a bye in the first round as the number two seed and had plenty of time preparing for Middle Township who had advanced with a win over Buena. With their 5-1 victory over the seventh seed, next up for the Irish is a match up with a very successful Haddon Heights team who are looking for their third upset in a row. With their victory today, Camden Catholic's Coach Monica DiBease picked up her 100th career win.
In last year's group playoffs, these two teams met on different circumstances. Middle Township was the higher seed sitting in the second position and Camden Catholic was seeded tenth. Camden Catholic was the team upsetting the higher seeds and was rewarded with a trip to the finals. The Irish was looking to returning to the championship game and being the team to hold up the trophy.
Middle Township had an impressive finishing third in the Cape-Atlantic League National Division I behind Buena and Hammonton. Both of those teams were eliminated in the first round leaving the Panthers the lone team representing their division. Camden Catholic was on a different mission as they were looking to repeat their accomplishments two years ago. They were well on their way when both Michelle Vittese and Kelly Simpson scored twice, and Jessica Falcone scoring a goal to lead the Irish. Linda Cimini scored for Middle Township.
