The second day of the Olympic-Cape Challenge for the boy's basketball team competition finally got underway at Hammonton High School. Originally schedule for Sunday, February 16th, the completion of the battle between the Olympic Conference teams against the Cape Atlantic Conference completed late today with five of the six games played were very competitive. The games that were covered were Camden Catholic having little problems defeating Holy Spirit, Timber Creek falling short against St. Joseph, Woodrow Wilson cruising by Wildwood Catholic and St. Augustine slipping by Winslow Township game.
The Camden Catholic boy’s basketball team started out slowly scoring only four points in the quarter. The defensive, or lack of getting the ball to fall through the hoop, initial minutes looked as if Holy Spirit would be able to maintain a lead going into the second quarter. But Camden Catholic’s not called the fighting Irish for nothing. Nick and Eric Cangelosi, along with James Ulrich lead the charge past the Spirit for the 47-32 victory. Ulrich and Nick Cangelosi who scored 12 points apiece led the Irish. Jon Mimmo was the game’s high scorer with 18 points for the Spartans from Holy Spirit.
