You couldn’t help but notice that one of our own past high school players, Wali Lundy now attending Virginia and a graduate from Holy Cross, scored three touchdowns for his new team. His efforts served as a motivating factor for high school players in this area. With their performance on the field, the Crusaders from Bishop Eustace received scores from five different players in route to winning their season opener. Palmyra would avoid the shutout by score a late fourth quarter touchdown to finalize the 34-6 scoring.
The Crusaders scored once in the first quarter on Will Hargrave’s 6-yard touchdown run, and then twice in the second quarter to take a commanding 21-0 halftime lead. Jim Rafferty and Chris Baldwin’s 25-yard run capped off the fourteen point quarter. The Crusaders continued where they left off in the third quarter. Chris Bernardi scored on a 3 yard run and Brysori Biglin duplicated his effort giving Eustace a 34-0 lead. Palmyra’s Nick Storm recorded their only score of the day when his catch in the endzone from Gerald Walker’s 5-yard pass avoided the shutout.
