With the start of the high school soccer season upon us, it’s hard not to notice that the World Cup games are being played in our area at Lincoln Financial Field. With all the media coverage and the crowd line up to attend these games help our players to realize that the sport of soccer is extremely popular all over the world. What was more important today was a win for either the Crusaders from Bishop Eustace or the Triton Mustangs. Neither team could not get that one goal after the first overtime and had to settle for the tie in an Olympic Conference National Division competition.
It was quite evident that each team tested one another during most of the first quarter of this game. With most of the play held generally midfield, one of these teams finally connected. Bishop Eustace’s midfielder Miller put the Crusaders up 1-0 with the assists recorded by Reed and Ponessi. The Mustangs would tie this game in the second half when Hauser redirected the ball into the net. Neither team could manage a good run at the net through two overtime period and had to settle for their first tie of the season.
