High School Football: Edgewood Now Olympic Conference National Division Champions
By Lee Tomasello
Edgewood Regional Senior High School is nearing the end of its final season in a big way. The players just did not want to end their final year with a winning record. They wanted to be champions. On Saturday at Bishop Eustace, the team's dream came true.
For the first time in many, many years, the Edgewood Eagles became the Olympic Conference National Division Champions on Saturday, November 4, by its commanding defeat of the Bishop Eustace Crusaders by a score of 43 - 8. South Jersey scoring leader Brandon Osborne helped the winning cause by adding two more touchdowns to his stats.
Edgewood (5-0 in conference and 8-0 overall) got off to a slow start as the front line of Bishop Eustace (2-3 in conference and 3-5 overall) kept the team from moving the ball both on the ground and in the air. But that soon changed as the Eagles dominated play for the final three quarters of the game. Photos by Lee Tomasello |
