There were three teams right at the top of the Colonial Conference Patriot Division with a chance of claiming the title for their school. Haddon Heights, Haddon Township and Audubon were all heading into the final weekend of the regular schedule all needing a win. Haddon Township had loss to Collingswood on Friday night leaving the door wide open for the Lady Garnets traveling to Audubon to decide the title. Haddon Heights had their hopes of repeating as champs turned away by Audubon’s defense. With an early one goal lead, goalie Gina Medoro helped Audubon pick up the 1-0 decision.
Getting that first goal of the game can prove to be more important than a 1-0 lead. It can serve as an ice breaker, allowing the entire team to just relax knowing that they were successful in moving the ball downfield and into the cage. When Audubon traveled to Haddon Heights earlier this week, the game ended in a one all tie leaving the divisional title up for grab. Danielle Stasulli’s goal during the first half gave the Lady Green Wave a brief moment to celebrate. Audubon would get their opportunity to finish their celebrations as the defense would be able to maintain that one goal advantage.
