In girl's soccer action, the Sterling Lady Knights were going up against the Green Wave from Audubon High School. This Colonial Conference Liberty Division game saw six different players score goals as both teams were looking for their first divisional win. Sterling's keeper Denise Spurio had a busy day turning away 16 shots but that was not enough as four shots got by. Audubon's Ally Jones, Amanda Malony, Emma Jakubowski and Noelle Bissinger each scored giving the Wave (6-3, 1-2) the 4-2 win.
Playing at home has several advantages that sometimes give you that extra edge. Having the comforts of home field keeps you off of that bus ride to and from the game you are attending. It's an extra item the coaching staff has to worry about trying to motivate and condition their team after stepping off the bus. But good teams will find a way to overcome those obstacles and play competitive in search of that road victory.
Audubon kept the pressure on Sterling through out this game, as Spurio was very busy turning away shots. She would come up with 16 saves on the day keeping the Knights in this game. But the Wave's midfield play kept the action in the Sterling's half of the field for most of the game. That would set up the goals scored by Audubon. Sterling would get goals from Kristen Watson and Shannon McGrory.
