The scorekeeper for the Hammonton softball finally got to fill in the diamonds indicating their team was scoring runs. Traveling to Audubon wasn't an easy task, as the Blue Devils were taking on the seconded seeded team in their South Jersey Group II quarterfinal game. Hammonton sent fourteen batters to the plate during their six run fifth inning explosion to break a close game open. Hammonton took advantage of several bases loaded walks that allowed them to move on to the semifinals with their 7-4 victory.
Audubon scored first in the second inning, and that lead held up until the fourth inning when the tenth seeded Blue Devils tied the game. During their very next at bat, Hammonton started the inning with two fly outs. It looked as if the inning would end quickly but one double, four singles and four walks later, Hammonton posted six runs on the scoreboard. Lauren McGuigan started the two out rally with a double and scored the go ahead run. Audubon would put up a fight in during their last at bat and trailing 7-1. Their two out rally ended short with three runs scored during their bottom half of the seventh inning.
