High School Basketball: Monday, March 6, 2006 By Jerome Michaels It's not easy to win back to back titles and the Vikings from Atlantic City were looking to defeat the Lenape Indians for the South Jersey Group 4 championship. Both teams had worked their way through the bracket that included the Indians knocking off second seeded Shawnee to advance to the finals. The top seeded Vikings would start this game out running and they didn't stop until the final buzzer was sounded. The results for their efforts would be a 58-50 decision over Lenape allowing Atlantic City to repeat has champs. |
High School Basketball: Saturday, February 11, 2006 By Jason Brown With the threat of a major snow storm on its way, the Paul VI and Atlantic City game would be the last game played in the Cape-Atlantic Challenge on this day. Inside the gymnasium at Timber Creek, this game provided enough entertainment that allowed most to forget about the inclement weather for the moment that was on its way. This tournament has allowed two teams from two conferences to match their talent against one another. The Vikings from Atlantic City have been labeled as one of the top ten teams in South Jersey. Paul VI would watch the Vikings lead at the break only to rally in the second half to send this game into overtime. The Eagles dominated the extra session and posted a 75-66 win over Atlantic City. |
High School Football: Saturday, November 12, 2005 By Jason Brown It has been two years since the last time Pennsauken qualified for the playoffs and during that last appearance, they were the lower seed and loss in the first round. This year under different circumstances, the Indians were hosting the Vikings from Atlantic City in a South Jersey Group IV game as the second seed. Pennsauken were known for their running game behind Robert Darby, but it would be the defense that highlighted this game. For three quarters, the Indians kept Atlantic City off the scoreboard while the rushing attack began to find those wholes to run through. By the time the game ended, Pennsauken had gained over two hundred yards on the ground and advance to the next round with their 25-7 victory. Next up for Pennsauken is another home game against Absegami. |
High School Baseball: Saturday, April 9, 2005 By Jerome Michaels Chris Rollins had most of his pitches working for him when he took the mound against Atlantic City Saturday morning at Winslow Township. With a lively fast ball mixed in with an occasional curve ball, Rollins was able to strikeout 16 batters over seven innings. But pitching alone will not win games and that was true facing the Vikings in a non-league game. Atlantic City did have their chances to score but the defense for Township came up big and that defense would include Rollins on the mound. A single run in the first and fifth innings was enough Winslow Township to outlast their opponent by one, 2-1. |
High School Soccer: Tuesday, November 2, 2004 By Jason Brown Here we go again with a test to see if teams can improve or repeat their quest to advance further that they ever had. The Vikings from Atlantic City was one of those teams making the postseason for the first time in a while and were traveling to Lenape to take on the third seeded Indians. Lenape was looking to improve on capturing the South Jersey Group 3 title instead of just making it to it. Five second half goals broke a somewhat close game open. Lenape now advances to the next round with their 6-0 victory and will host Absegami. |
