College Golf: Monday, October 25, 2004 By Mike Ballard Senior Hugh Arbuthnot (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) was the individual medalist, shooting a 75 at the par 70 Pinecrest Golf Club to power Rutgers University-Camden to victory at the Gwynedd-Mercy College tri-match in Lansdale, PA, Oct. 18. Rutgers-Camden shot 315 as a team to finish 24 strokes ahead of Neumann College. Host Gwynedd-Mercy College had only one golfer and did not score. It was the final event of the fall for the Scarlet Raptors, who posted a sterling 57-28 fall record in seven outings, including a first-place and a pair of second-place finishes in their last three invitationals. |
College Golf: Monday, October 18, 2004 By Mike Ballard Junior golfer Chris Binder (Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) shot a 75 and sophomore Chris Kelley (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield) added a 76 here Friday to lead the Rutgers University-Camden golf team to a second-place finish in the 10-team East Stroudsburg University Fall Invitational. Rutgers-Camden shot a 310 team score, only two shots off the school record it set earlier in the season, to finish behind Moravian College (305). |
College Golf: Monday, April 26, 2004 By Mike Ballard Junior Hugh Arbuthnot (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and senior captain Ryan Cusick (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) each shot a 75 at the Town & Country Golf Links as the Rutgers University-Camden golf team set a program record with a 309 team score and clinched a winning spring at the first Rutgers-Camden Spring Golf Invitationall April 23 in Woodstown. The Scarlet Raptors' "A" team finished first out of four clubs to give Rutgers-Camden a 37-36 record in spring invitationals, clinching the first winning semester since the team went 63-23-1 in the spring of 1994. |
College Golf: Monday, April 19, 2004 By Mike Ballard Freshman Chris Kelley (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield) shot a 78 to pace the Rutgers University-Camden golf team to a 326 score and a fifth-place finish in the Wesley College Golf Invitational Thursday. The nine-team event was held at the Maple Dale Golf Club. Host Wesley College won the event with a 300, led by individual medalist Zac Oakley, who shot a 73. One stroke back was Will Scarborough, who shot a 74 to lead The College of New Jersey to a 318 score and a second-place finish. Kelley produced his third round out of five invitationals this spring where he shot in the 70s. |
College Golf: Monday, April 12, 2004 By Mike Ballard Freshman Chris Kelley (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield) and junior Hugh Arbuthnot (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) each shot a 79 to lead the Rutgers University-Camden golf team to a fifth-place finish out of 14 teams at the 2004 Pioneer Spring Invitational, hosted by Widener University March 8. LaSalle University shot a 312 to win the event which was held at the Frog Hollow Golf Club in Middletown, Delaware. The individual winner was Grant Sharrow of SUNY-Plattsburgh, who shot a 76 and edged LaSalle's Phil Aurora on matching cards. |
College Golf: Monday, April 5, 2004 By Mike Ballard Junior Hugh Arbuthnot (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and sophomore John Goff (Haddon Heights, NJ/Paul VI) each shot an 82 as the Rutgers University-Camden golf team competed in the Moravian College Spring Invitational April 2 in Bath, PA. The Scarlet Raptors shot a 332 as a team, but lost the tie-breaker to East Stroudsburg University, which also shot a 332. The Raptors finished 13th overall out of 19 teams. The Moravian College A team won the event with a score of 298, led by sophomore Dustin McCormick, who was the individual medalist. He shot a 71 on the par 71 Southmoore Golf Course. |
College Golf: Monday, March 29, 2004 By Mike Ballard The Rutgers-Camden golf team made school history at the Susquehanna University Tee-Off Invitational March 25, shooting the lowest score in program history, a 312. The Scarlet Raptors also placed a school-record four golfers in the 70’s, as junior Hugh Arbuthnot (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and freshman Chris Kelley (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield) each shot a 77, while junior Brian Baskin (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) and sophomore John Goff (Haddon Heights, NJ/Paul VI) both recorded a 79. Senior Ryan Cusick (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) rounded out the team scoring with an 88. The Raptors’ alternates, freshman Rob Burgess (Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) and junior Spencer Moore (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lanape), shot an 87 and an 89, respectively. |
