Basketball Spotlight: Tuesday, December 5, 2006 By Bob Heller PHILADELPHIA, PA - University of the Sciences men's basketball player Eric Cangelosi (Camden Catholic High School/Haddon Heights, N.J.) was honored as the Sam Cozen Small College Player of the Week by the Philadelphia Area Small College Coaches Association at their luncheon today at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. Cangelosi, a senior forward, has started all four games for the Devils this year. Over the four games, Eric has scored 76 points (19.0 points per game) while shooting 43.1% from the field (22-for-51). Cangelosi has been the leading scorer for the Devils in each of their four games including a 23-point effort against West Chester University and a 20-point game against Wilmington College. In addition to being the Devils’ leading scorer, Cangelosi also leads the team in steals (6), field goals (22) and free throws (28). He ranks second on the team in rebounding (5.0 per game) Cangelosi, a former Camden Catholic High School athlete is in his fourth and final season of play for the Devils (2-2). Eric currently has 992 career points and is poised to become just the 31st player in the 104-year history of men’s basketball at the institution to reach the 1,000 point plateau. |
