Basketball Spotlight: Tuesday, December 7, 2004 By Bob Heller Double honors were earned by USP Men’s Basketball player Chris Brattelli (Highland Regional High School/Clementon, NJ) as he was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week and the Philadelphia Area Small College Coaches Association’s Player of the Week (Sam Cozen Award) for the week ending December 5, 2004. Brattelli, a 6’6” senior forward, was a key player for the Devils as they completed perfect 2-0 week in conference play. USP went 2-1 overall for the week. Chris scored a season-high 27 points on Saturday as the Devils orchestrated a come-from-behind 85-74 win at Post University. 21 of Brattelli’s 27 points came in the second half, including a 2:11 stretch where he scored 11 points. On the afternoon, Brattelli connected on 10 of 15 shots from the field and made seven of nine free throws. Chris also pulled down eight rebounds, blocked one shot and dished out two assists. Two days earlier, on Thursday, December 2nd, Brattelli scored 14 points as the Devils opened conference play with a 72-66 win over Felician College. Brattelli was 4-for-10 from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line with three rebounds and two assists. For the week, Brattelli averaged, 16.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and blocked shots and 1.7 steals while shooting 51.4% from the field (18-35) and 73.6% (14-19) from the free throw line. |
