Tennis Spotlight: Thursday, October 7, 2004 By Bob Heller Four singles victories helped power the USP women's tennis team to their second straight win, a 5-3 triumph over Chestnut Hill College. Amanda Bedway (Fr., Blue Mountain HS/Orwigsburg, PA) won her sixth singles match of the season with an 8-0 por-set shutout of Kathleen O'Rourke at #1 singles. Bedway is now 6-1 on the season. At #2 singles, Michelle Inzillo (Jr, Atlantic City HS/Margate, NJ) evened her season record at 3-3 with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Kristine Kozin. Bedway and Inzillo also teamed up to win the #1 doubles match 8-4 over O'Rourke and Kozin. Rachel Salahub (So., Cedar Crest HS/Allentwon, PA) was a 6-1, 6-4 winner over Angela Garofalo at #4 singles and Jacklyn Yee (Fr., South Brunswick HS/Kendall Park, NJ) was a 6-2, 6-4 winner over Colleen Reasoner at #5 singles. Kristen Hickey's (West Milford HS/West Milford, NJ) match at #3 singles was tied at one set apiece 5-7, 7-6 (7-4) when the match was called. The Devils are now 4-3 overall. |
