Tennis Spotlight: Saturday, September 25, 2004 By Bob Heller Coming off of one of their stronger performances of the year, the USP women's tennis team looked flat against a much improved Cabrini College squad, falling to the Cavaliers 6-1. USP's lone win came at #1 singles as Amanda Bedway (Fr., Blue Mountain HS/Orwigsburg, PA) rallied from a one-set deficit to defeat Jenn Keller 6-7 (7-5), 6-1, 6-1. The win improved her singles record to 4-1 on the season. Michelle Inzillo (Jr, Atlantic City HS/Margate, NJ) lost is straight sets 3-6, 6-7 to Cait Scott at #2 singles while Jessica Webb (So., North Olmstead HS/North Olmstead, OH) lost to Victoria Nicodemus 3-6, 4-6 at #3 singles. Tara Torrone (So., Red Bank Catholic, Lincroft, NJ) suffered her first singles loss of the season, 3-6, 2-6 to Jenna Kane at #4 singles. Rachel Salahub (So., Cedar Crest HS/Allentown, PA) fell to Tracey Stabler at #5 singles, 2-8 in a pro-set match and Kristen Hickey (West Milford HS/West Milford, NJ) lost 1-6, 2-6 at #6 singles to Jackie Creighton. USP also dropped all three doubles matches. The Devils are now 2-3 on the season. |
