By Bob Heller USP men's basketball players Chris Brattelli (Highland Regional High School/Clementon, NJ) and Gene Willard (Cardinal O’Hara High School/Broomall, PA) were named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-Conference Team as third team selections. The voting is done by the league’s 12 coaches. Brattelli, a senior center, currently leads the Devils in scoring (14.3 points/game), field goal percentage (50.0%), and blocked shots (32, 1.19/gm.), ranking 12th, 8th and 4th respectively amongst the conference leaders in these categories. Chris is also second on the Devils in rebounding (6.1) and ranks 11th in the league in this category. This season, Brattelli became the 32nd men’s basketball player in school history to record 1,000 career points; reaching the mark in the Devils game against Wilmington College on December 7, 2004. He currently has 1,281 career points, placing him 18th on USP’s all-time scoring list. Chris also has 739 career rebounds and 129 career blocked shots ranking 9th and 5th on the respective USP all-time lists. Willard, a senior forward, currently leads the Devils in free throw percentage (.789) and rebounding (6.4) ranking 5th and 9th respectively amongst the conference leaders in these categories. Gene is also second on the Devils in scoring (13.7 ppg.) and field goal percentage (49.4%), ranking 14th and 10th in the league in these two categories. With 1,682 career points, Willard ranks 7th on the Devils all time scoring list. Both Brattelli and Willard are in their final season of play for the Devils. Willard, a pharmacy major is pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree while Brattelli is a Pharmaceutical Marketing/ Management major and will graduate this May. |
