South Jersey Cheerleading: Friday, July 23, 1999
By Tracy Williams This year, girls from age 6 to 15 spent July 19-23 at Shawnee Cheerleading Camp. This was a six hour camp from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm held at Shawnee High School in Medford, NJ. Coaches Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Canale, senior varsity cheerleaders at Shawnee, and graduated Shawnee cheerleaders ran the camp. The girls spent 25 minutes in the morning doing aerobics and then went to 20-minute sessions on jumps, chants, motions, and cheers. Then at 12:00 noon they ate lunch for an hour. Next they spend the afternoon doing 3 sessions of dance, gymnastics, and one on making up a cheer. On Friday, the last day of camp, parents and whoever wanted to come attended. They were told about the camp and the people running the camp. Then the girls performed the things that they learned throughout the week. It was a lot of hard work, but a lot of fun. Hope to see you at the camp next year. Photos by Boog Williams
