Today at Rutgers University at Camden, some of the best graduating high school basketball players got together and competed one last time against each other. A game of this type can create all kinds of thoughts in the heads of athletes, the one thought that is prevalent is no one wants to be embarrassed. There were some embarrassing moments but on the whole was a well played game. That speaks volumes to the ability of the coaches to make teams out of athletes that may have played a more prominent role on their own teams.
The final score was no indication as to how the two teams competed. The East team led by MVP Chris Bratelli from Highland 16 points, five rebounds, and three blocked shots earned a 116-97 victory over the West All-Stars.
St Augustine's Jose Gonzalez seemed to be enjoying himself, he was throwing passes that if were attempted during his season might have gotten him a seat on the bench. Along with his team high four assists he scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Gonzalez shot a blistering 60% from the floor and as a team, the East shot 51% from the floor and 75% from the foul line.
The West was led by Northern Burlington's Jason Brown who probably had the most productive game of his life. In 12 minutes of action he scored 21 points on his way to team MVP honors. James Pulliam of Camden High School chipped in with 16 points and Michael McGinley of Moorestown High School finished with 14 points and nine rebounds.
