South Jersey Basketball: Friday, February 12, 1999

BTAA PeeWee Basketball played another exciting one on Friday. The first gamed opened Friday with the Maroon Devils vs the Purple Vikings. The final score was 22-12. For the Devils, J. Schantz scored 4 points, T. Bruckner scored 2 points; P. Caruso scored 2 points and A. Marone scored 2 points. For the Purple Vikings, J. Gollotto had a great game with 10 points. Also scoring was L. Buffington 4 points; D. Maista 4 points; C. Borbour 2 points and A. Jarrell making the final basket in the last 20 seconds of the game. A great time was had by all.

BTAA PeeWee Basketball opened Tuesday with the Orange Tigers vs. the Purple Vikings (8-30). For the Tigers, A. Munson 2 points; C. Smith 2 points; S. Lemm 2 points; and M. Dotts 2 points. For the Vikings, M. Gollotto 6 points; D. Maista 4 points; J. Gollotto 4 points; B. Harvey 4 points; A. Lemm 2 points; N. Smarra 2 points; L. Phelps 2 points; L. Buffington 4 points; and J. Gardner 2 points.

BTAA PeeWee Basketball had fun Friday night. The first game opened with the the Maroon Devils vs. the Purple Vikings. The final score was 10-20. For the Devils, J. Schantz scored 6 points, M. Sparks scored 2 points and R. Sheehan scored 2 points. For the Purple Vikings, M. Gollotto had a great game with 8 points. Also scoring was J. Gollotto, 4 points; L. Buffington, 6 points; and J. Gardner, 2 points. A great time was had by all.

The BTAA PeeWee Basketball opening Tuesday game was the Golden Retrievers vs. the Purple Vikings. What an exciting game this was that went down to the last seconds. The final score was tied at 20-20 with B. Harvey evening the score for the Vikings in the last 5 seconds of the game. The other players who scored for the Vikings were J. Gollotto, L. Buffington, and A. Jarrell. For the Golden Retrievers, M. Primas scored 6 points, A. Munson scored 6 points, J. Brecker scored 4 points, L. Strain scored 2 points, and O. Greis, 2 points.

The first game for BTAA PeeWee Basketball saw Team 1, the Maroon Team play Team 3, The Purple Vikings. The final score was 8-10 in favor of the Vikings. Both teams played well. For the Maroon Team, R. Sheehan scored 4 points, J. Schantz scored 2 points, and T. Bruckner scored 2 points. M. Sparks had a great game. For the Purple Vikings, B. Harvey scored 4 points, L. Buffington scored 4 points, and L. Phelps scored 2 points. C. Barbour had 2 rebounds and showed some good passing as well as A. Lemm and J. Gardner. A special thank you to Coach Barbara for her great "Ref-ing". The kids learned a lot from her.

The Berlin Township Athletic Association Pee Wee basketball season will have its opening games on Friday, January 29th. The league is made up of 4 teams with each team having 12 players, of ages 6 - 8 years old. The 4 teams are being sponsored by the West Berlin Post Office and are made up of both girls and boys. This is the beginning league, which teaches the players how to dribble, pass, shoot, and play offense/defense. The teams have been practicing since January 5th and will continue every Tuesday and Friday, at 6:30 and 7:30, until February 26th.
