Yankees 2B Robinson Cano, on a rehab assignment, collected three hits and a RBI as the Thunder beat Bowie, 4-2, on Friday night. The former Thunder star was playing in his 1st game with the Thunder in two years. Cano, rehabbing a hamstring injury, gave Trenton a 2-0 lead in the 2nd Inning as he singled home LF Matt Carson. 1B Randy Ruiz followed with a two-run homer off Bowie starter Beau Hale for a 4-0 lead. It was Ruiz's 18th homer of the season. Hale (2-3) allowed four runs in six innings for the loss. Cano had two singles, a double and a walk as he reached base in all four plate appearances in the game. He left the game for a pinch-runner in the 7th Inning after his double. Bowie (51-58) got two runs back against Jason Jones in the 4th Inning on solo homers by 1B Leo Daigle and C Ryan Hubele. Jones (2-2) scattered five hits over six innings for the win. He walked three and struck out two. The Thunder (60-51) made it a 5-2 game in the 8th Inning with an insurance run on an RBI triple by CF Justin Christian. J. B. Cox came on to work the final two innings scoreless to earn his 3rd save. The Thunder and Baysox will play a "day-night" doubleheader on Saturday. The opener will at 1:05 PM with Tyler Clippard (8-10, 3.80) starting for the Thunder against Bowie's James Johnson (9-5, 4.13). The second game is at 7:05 PM. Trenton starter is TBA, while Bowie will have LHP Eric DuBose (6-1, 1.85) on the mound.
